How long must a job be advertised on MyCareersFuture before an Employment Pass?

The rule, how to count the 14 days, and the mistakes that send you back to day one.

the short answer

At least 14 days in a row. If you want to hire someone on an Employment Pass or S Pass, the job has to stay open on MyCareersFuture for at least 14 consecutive days before you apply, and you can't make anyone an offer until those 14 days are over.

It applies unless your role is exempt, for example because you have fewer than 10 employees.

How to count the 14 days

Day 1 is the day the ad goes live. The ad has to stay up through day 14. Day 15 is the earliest you can make an offer or submit the application.

What restarts the clock

If you change certain details, you need a brand-new ad, and it has to stay open for another 14 days in a row:

Reposting an ad that has closed also needs the full 14 days again. And an ad that expired or closed more than 3 months ago can't be used for an application at all.

No offers during the 14 days

This is the part people trip over. Even if you already know who you want, MOM says you shouldn't make a job offer to anyone while the ad is still in its 14 days. The point is to give everyone who applies a fair look.

What else MOM checks

The ad itself has to be accurate. MOM rejects applications linked to ads that use discriminatory wording, don't match the job in the application, or show a salary range that's hidden or too wide. More on that in the salary range rule and what you can't say in a job ad.

Questions people ask

Can I make a job offer while my MyCareersFuture ad is still running?

No. MOM says you should not make a job offer to any candidate during the advertising period of at least 14 consecutive days.

Does the 14-day rule apply to S Pass hires too?

Yes. The same MyCareersFuture advertising requirement applies before you apply for an S Pass, unless the role is exempt.

What happens if I change the salary in my ad?

You have to post a new ad and keep it open for another 14 consecutive days before you can apply.
